“Reading Garden”
Gainsboro Library, Roanoke, VA
Two figures of varying sizes and several books filling the backyard of the Library.
Adair Dolomitic Limestone and Indiana Limestone
The Reading Garden was created to honor the outgoing head librarian and to invite people of all ages to come out to the garden and read. The community was involved as they named the books and drew images that were sandblasted on the books surfaces, along with poetry, prose and personal thoughts. A book was published for the library, with images of the art and written word that was submitted with those chosen for the installation each having a full page, and all the submissions published in the book.
